- You are allowed to post pro-war, pro-Bush, and other such
statements.
- You are NOT allowed post anti-war, anti-Bush statements.
- They opened a forum called the "War Room". People used it to express
their opinion that the war was unjustified, poor little Chris got
upset and the forum was deleted.
- On a recent thread about gas mileage, people were bragging about
their great figures. The figures actually showed they had unbelievably
inefficient cars. A poster who complained that the mileages were
terrible and the we should care more about the environment had his
post deleted.
- The moderators consistently post sarcastic responses to suggestions
in the suggestions forum. Basically a typical exchange involves
somebody asking for a useful feature, only to be told that it would
cost A LOT OF MONEY and be VERY DIFFICULT, usually by "reverendrob"
who appears to be a completely inept database programmer.
- Chris Greene has dropped any pretence that his site is a fair,
unbiased discussion group. He has posted a public notice saying that
he is "not interested in your opinion" on war matters (unless it
agrees with his of course). He constantly gives the "my house, my
rules" metaphor. When I have people round, I don't kick them out or
tell them to shut up if their points of view differ from mine.
AND YET - this site is still linked to from the official Fender site,
has a list of sponsors as long as your arm, and is regularly
contributed to by its members. The money is obviously going to other
places than programming and upkeep costs. Either that, or this
"reverendrob" guy is such a crap programmer it takes him a week to do
what for a decent programmer would be a day's work, thus depleting the
resources.
The reason why Fender continue to be associated with this site that is
the *opposite* of free speech is completely beyond me. They should
just get some free forum software and stick it on their site. Let
Greene get on with it - he's a complete control freak. He's started a
similar site for astronomy; presumably because he got scared trying to
discuss it in a place where people could say whatever they thought.
